For this SLJ activity I was challenged to make a poster based on what I learnt from the links provided about the Pekapeka. I chose to include what I found the most interesting fact. I chose to do why its special, where it lives, why it’s close to extinction, and facts. I made sure to add a map of where it can be found.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn about the Pekapeka bat and I now know interesting facts about them.

  1. Kia ora Folose,

It’s Mrs Stone from the Summer Learning Journey.

I really enjoyed reading this fact file about pekapeka. Your paragraph gave a really clear rundown of what pekapeka are, their habitat, diet, predators and the problem they are facing. I liked how you then presented bullet points with more detailed facts, as this made them easy to quickly read and learn now I understood enough from reading the paragraph.

I also liked the images you chose – some bats to remind me what they look like, but also the map infographic which provides more information. In this case it illustrated where I might find the pekapeka, which also added interest.

You’ve got some great reading and writing skills; you make sense of information and then present it in your own words with awareness of your audience. This will really help you at college next year when you are reading information in different subjects – e.g. science or social studies.

    ngā mihi,
    Mrs Stone
